PARIS – A 28-year-old man pleaded not guilty Thursday to 20 counts of sexual misconduct.

Jacob Fernald of Main Street in Cornish was indicted in October on 12 counts of gross sexual assault and eight counts of unlawful sexual contact against two girls under the age of 14.

The indictment states that the incidents occurred in Porter between July 2004 and December 2005.

A warrant was issued for Fernald’s arrest after he failed to appear in the Oxford County Superior Court for arraignment in November. He was transported to the court from York County, where he was under arrest.

Justice Andrew Horton ordered that the $5,000 cash or $20,000 surety bail set by the warrant be continued.
