HIRAM – The 4-year-old boy who died in a tree-felling accident Saturday morning was Lucas Leavitt of Waterboro, Cpl. Dane Tripp of the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department said Monday.

The youngster was playing at a relative’s home when the stump of a tree that was being cut moved and crushed him. He was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

The boy’s 7-year-old cousin had his leg pinned in the incident but managed to free himself, the investigator said.
