WOODSTOCK – The Planning Board decided last week that the town’s recently completed comprehensive plan needs to be studied to see what areas pertain specifically to the board.

The need for such a study was suggested by board Chairman Norman Putnam.

The discussion revolved around whether the town’s land-use map is to be used for growth control or simply determining lot sizes and other construction issues.

The plan was developed originally to determine soil conditions in specific areas and to use that information to determine areas that are best for development.

A major concern of planners is that if the comprehensive plan was meant to be a guide to growth and it is not approved, state reimbursements may be withheld.

Planning Board member Ed Haskell and Town Manager Vern Maxfield have agreed to work on the issue, especially by reviewing the town’s site plan review ordinance. The results will be mailed to businesses in the town.

More information will be available when the planners meet again on April 19.
