NORWAY – A Summer Festival planning meeting will be held at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, at the Norway Downtown Revitalization Office above Fare Share Market, Main Street. The group still needs volunteers for a number of projects and tasks. If interested in assisting, phone 739-2215.

Reading program

PARIS – The Paris Public Library will begin its summer reading program for children with juggler-mime comedians Double Vision at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, at the library at 37 Market Square. In addition to the special guest hours Tuesday mornings, the library is hosting programs for specific ages. On Mondays at 3:30 p.m., children ages 6 to 10 are welcome to attend Story Connections where stories and related crafts will be shared. Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. will offer a Baby Time where babies discover the rewards of reading for ages up to 2 years old. Thursday mornings will offer a Preschooler Story Time and Thursday afternoons older children ages 7 to 14 are invited to the Backpackers program at 1 p.m. That will offer reading, acting and crafts. Library volunteer Connie Cushing is leading the Young Adult Book Discussion Group for youths ages 13 to 17 at 3 p.m. Wednesdays. Participants are challenged to read books, share thoughts and qualify for weekly and program ending gift-certificate prizes. The reading program is sponsored by Bob and Sandy Bahre, Norway Savings Bank, Oxford Bank and Androscoggin Savings Bank. Any interested children are welcome to join the library’s summer reading program activities on a weekly or occasional basis. No registration is required. Transit meeting

NORWAY – There will be an informational meeting for Project TOT, Taking on Transportation, from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at the Norway Memorial Library. Project TOT is sponsored by the Maine Parent Federation. Its goal is to create opportunities for people with disabilities to become more involved in their communities. Arts talk planned

NORWAY – Alden Wilson, executive director of the Maine Arts Commission, will present a talk on the role of the arts in downtown revitalization at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at Fare Share Commons, Main Street. Wilson is a member of Gov. Baldacci’s task force on cultural development in the state. Admission is free. Strawberry festival

BUCKFIELD – The Buckfield American Legion and Auxiliary Post 58 will hold its annual strawberry festival at 10 a.m. until gone Friday, June 27, at the Legion Hall. The festival will include a huge yard sale, a craft, plant and bake sale, and steamed hot dogs and strawberry shortcake.

Swim lessons

WATERFORD – Swimming lessons will be held for six weeks, from July 7 to Aug. 15, at the Keoka Beach Campground. Registration will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at the town beach. Registration is available at the town office anytime for those who cannot attend the registration time. For more information, phone swim director Martha Eaton at 583-4611. Participants will be called with lesson times before they start. Some changes may be necessary.

Nonprofit Expo

NORWAY – A Nonprofit Expo will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at the Norway Town Office. This is an opportunity for year-round and summer residents to learn about the services, activities and volunteer opportunities in the Oxford Hills. Organizations wishing to display should contact Lori Allen at the Growth Council of Oxford Hills at 743-8830.
