HAMPTON FALLS, N.H. (AP) – A Hampton Falls homeowner took a shot at an intruder in his home this week, police said.

Investigators say the man reported seeing shadows inside when he arrived home Monday night, so he grabbed a shotgun, went inside and came face-to-face with an armed, masked intruder.

Police say the homeowner fired a shot, but missed. As he called 911, the intruder escaped.

Police who searched the area did not find anyone and said nothing had been taken from the home.
