Dear Sun Spots: I am trying to locate a senior citizen group that would have a chartered bus going to Fryeburg Fair on Oct. 2 from either Lewiston/Auburn, Augusta or somewhere within a 30-mile radius of Winthrop.
If any one knows of such a trip, please contact me either through the Sun Spots column or by writing to me at 337 Main St., Apt. 3E, Winthrop, ME 04364. Thanks. – Marge Reynolds, Winthrop.
Answer: In addition to responses from readers, Sun Spots had the pleasure of speaking with Jennifer at Seniors Plus, 251 U.S. Route 2, Wilton, who says there are several upcoming trips you and other seniors might be interested in. Jennifer says participants in the past have included residents from Wilton, Franklin, Farmington, Jay and even Turner. Trips include:
Sept. 22 is their trip to Hollywood Slots, Oct. 2 is the Fryeburg Fair (seniors free day) trip and Oct. 23 is an early Christmas shopping trip for seniors to North Conway. All trips leave at 9 a.m. from the Mt. Blue Shopping Center and cost $25. Contact Seniors Plus at 645-3315 or through their toll free number at 888-234-3921 FMI.

Dear Sun Spots: Thank you for being a lifeline to the outside world for some people.
I would like to appeal for help from the readers, especially if they’ve been touched by adoption or foster care.
I am embarking on a round-trip motorcycle ride, taking place from Sept. 9 to 16, to meet Oprah in Chicago. This ride will be 50 women drivers. We are looking for additional experienced women riders to join us on our 2,100 mile journey.
We are raising money and awareness for Adoptive and Foster Families of Maine (AFFM). We are working with Barbara Ford from AFFM. Check out daretodream4kids.com Web site FMI.
The goal of raising this money is to provide some extras for children in adopted and foster families. An opportunity for a camp experience or a family trip to an amusement park is out of the financial means for some of these families who offer so much love and support for kids in their time of need.
Would readers consider placing a collection container at their business? Donations may also be sent to AFFM in care of Linda M. Wagner, 44 Bushey Circle, Lewiston, ME 04240-4204. I can be reached by phone 577-2357 or by e-mail at [email protected]. I would be pleased to talk with you. – Linda Wagner, Lewiston.
