OSSIPEE, N.H. (AP) – A Conway teenager faces up to seven years in prison if convicted of selling marijuana cookies at his high school.
Joshua Smith, 18, is accused of selling the chocolate chip cookies to other students at Kennett High School in Conway last year. He faces extra penalties under a law against selling drugs in a school zone.
A school aide saw Smith trading foil-wrapped packets for cash and took Smith and his customers to the principal’s office, police said. The students admitted the cookies contained marijuana and a drug-sniffing dog confirmed the drug’s presence, authorities said.
Smith has pleaded not guilty and his lawyer has challenged the state’s analysis of the cookie’s ingredients.
Smith is out on bail. His trial is set to start Sept. 19 in Carroll County Superior Court in Ossipee.
