FRYEBURG — A 69-year-old Florida man died on Route 302 on Friday night when he lost control of his motorcycle and hit a utility pole and a large rock.
Norman Lee of Merritt Island, Florida, was riding west on his 2017 Harley-Davidson FLHXS when he left the road on a curve, according to Fryeburg Police Chief Joshua Potvin.
Lee tried to correct the motorcycle after leaving the road, traveling 200 feet before hitting the pole and a rock.
He was ejected from his seat and died at the scene. Lee was an experienced rider and was not wearing a helmet.
The road was closed for nearly three hours after the 6:45 p.m. crash.
The man was traveling in a group of three motorcycles, along with his son and grandson, according to police.
