AUBURN – John Jenkins will be happy to talk about tax reform Monday, but it won’t be the main point of the Ward 2 neighborhood meeting.
“I’ll be prepared to discuss it, if the people there want to,” Jenkins said. But he’s ready to listen, too.
“That’s always been the main point of these meetings, and people have been very excited that we’re doing them,” he said.
Jenkins and the City Council continue their series of neighborhood meetings Monday in Ward 2’s new Park Avenue Elementary.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m.
They began offering the meetings in January as a way to bring more people to city meetings. So far, Jenkins has hosted meetings at Sherwood Heights Elementary, the Great Falls Performing Arts Center and the Auburn Public Library.
The final meeting is scheduled April 9 at Ward 1’s Washburn School.
The meetings have been popular, bringing in as many as 40 neighbors to comment, criticize and ask for help.
Jenkins said the meetings also let residents put a face to their government.
“We have the highest quality personnel in our city, and it’s an important part of these meetings to show that to our citizens,” Jenkins said.
