FARMINGTON — Excerpts from the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s sermons, speeches and films will be presented at a service at Old South Congregational Church to mark the civil rights leader’s birthday Monday.
The noon service at the Main Street church will include singing, scripture and excerpts from “A Film Record: Montgomery to Memphis.” The excerpts are from services called “Letter from a Birmingham Jail” and “Memphis: April 3, 1968.” The service will conclude with singing, “We Shall Overcome.”
It is sponsored by the Franklin Area Ecumenical Ministries. Pastors involved include the Rev. Cathie Wallace, the Rev. Scott Planting, the Rev. Marcia Charles, the Rev. Richard Waddell, the Rev. Susan Crane and the Rev. Terry McKinley. Patricia Hayden will serve as organist.
