Environmental Manager Ken Gallant of Verso Paper Corp.’s Androscoggin Mill speaks with paddlers on July 25 about the ecology of the Androscoggin River. The paddlers were taking a quick break at Pine Island in Jay during the Source to the Sea Trek from Riley Dam to Spruce Mountain. Some paddlers mentioned they had noticed less algae on the river than in past years and a lot more wildlife such as eagles and osprey. The Androscoggin Mill is one of the Source to the Sea event sponsors.
