OXFORD — A 25-year-old man was seriously injured Friday morning after his pickup truck hit a tree next to Route 26.
Nathan Merrill of Norway was flown to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston after the accident. Trooper Kyle Tilsley of the Maine State Police said Merrill’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.
A nursing supervisor at CMMC said Friday night that information on Merrill was not being released, at the family’s request.
The accident occurred at 5:50 a.m. near the Oxford Plains Snow Tubing Park on Route 26. Tilsley said Merrill was driving to his job as a flagger at a construction project in Poland when he crossed the centerline and struck the tree.
Merrill was the only occupant of the 1998 Dodge Ram pickup truck, which was demolished.
Route 26 was closed and traffic detoured for two-and-a-half hours. Police from Oxford and Paris responded to the scene, along with firefighters from Oxford, Paris and Poland.
Maine State Police are investigating the crash.
