Froma Harrop: Do population changes help red America or blue America?
Do these population changes also alter the states’ politics? In many cases, yes, and that generally does not bode well for Republicans. Texas, for example, voted for Donald Trump in 2020, but many of its urban areas did not — and those are the parts of Texas booming with transplants from outside the state.
Harold Savage: Police need support from citizens
I assume or hope most of us are tired of the police being criticized no matter what they do or don’t do. Those who want the police defunded or eliminated should maybe move somewhere that has no law enforcement, and see how that works for them. And who will they call whenever they need what […]
Deanne Danforth: ‘Our Republican friends have become unhinged’
I saw a sign that said “Has anyone thought to unplug America and plug it back in?” Since Trump lost the election our Republican friends have become unhinged. They’ve forgotten America’s Constitution gives people the right to assemble in protest. Some states are changing laws to take away that First Amendment right. North Dakota, North […]
Rich Lowry: Joe Biden’s radical gambit
Biden’s drive to make himself the next FDR and erect a massive progressive edifice on the slightest of political foundations is monumentally arrogant and almost certainly bound to fail.

However, that seemed to trouble him. Because he reverses field, and suggests demonstrations, riots, and looting influenced the jury, media, and public opinion. That assertion contains enough […]
Leonard Pitts Jr.: We’ve failed our children
You are our children, and we love you very much. But obviously, we love guns even more.
In rebuttal: Cynthia Phinney: PRO Act gives workers stronger voice
Rep. Josh Morris (R-Turner) recently wrote a confusing and misleading letter to the editor (“PRO Act not good for small businesses,” April 17) about the PRO Act, federal legislation that would allow workers to form unions free from employer harassment, intimidation and coercion. Rep. Morris erroneously claimed that the bill will somehow “give workers less of […]
Tom Anthoine, Fern Masse and Ralph Tuttle: Delahanty was a friend to L-A sports
The recent passing of Thomas E. Delahanty II, former Superior Court Chief Justice and U.S. Attorney, brought to mind more details of his support to local and state athletics. While he frequently would humorously discuss his football career as a Lewiston High School Blue Devil, his greatest gift to Twin City sports was his involvement […]
