DNA expert says she found suspect Steven Downs through profile matching in 1993 Alaska murder case

The murder trial for Steven Downs, an Auburn man accused in a 1993 murder case out of Fairbanks, Alaska, continues.

A TV news reporter received a call from the suspect in an armed standoff in Livermore Falls and handed his cellphone to police.

Police identify suspect as Joshua Elliott, 40.

Mark McCrillis is charged with knifing a 40-year-old East Dixfield resident.

Steven Downs is charged in the murder of a native Alaskan woman named Sophie Sergie in 1993.

Christopher Williams, 41, of Harpswell facing several charges including reckless conduct and discharging a firearm within 300 feet of a residence.
