South Main Street is a mess

There is a street in my neighborhood that has been misnamed. It should be called “patches” because it has been dug it up so many times. I live on South Main Street in Auburn and some of it was recently paved, but now we have been told that it won’t be completed until next year. […]

Watch out for the turkeys

Several times, I have witnessed drivers going very fast on the Old Lisbon Road in Lewiston. Those drivers go fast even when there is a flock of wild turkeys trying to cross the road. I wish the turkeys could return the behavior, somehow. Perhaps a turkey crossing sign might help. Ann Keith, Lewiston

Write about the real Joe Dunn

I read the Sun Journal story at the top of the front page (Aug. 12) about slum landlords. One landlord named was my neighbor, Joe Dunn. I could not believe what I was reading about “human feces” in three places in an apartment a person was renting. That was beyond belief. I have heard others […]

Thank you, Lewiston-Auburn

Recently, Kora Shriners hosted the 2015 Northeast Shrine Fall Field Days in Lewiston-Auburn for the first time ever. The opportunity only comes our way once every 15 years. NESN foolish for not rehiring Orsillo

I have been a Red Sox fan for 60 years, but believe the firing of NESN announcer Don Orsillo is a ridiculous decision, evidently made by one person. Rumors have it that said person didn’t like Orsillo. Who is he (big money man?) to totally disregard millions of fans who know Orsillo is a great […]

Mike Lachance impressed me

I’m not in the habit of rah-rahing any politician running for office, but I am making an exception for Lewiston Ward 7 Councilor Mike Lachance. He is not a politician. He’s an ordinary citizen serving his community. Politically, he’s not going any further than the City Council. He has made it clear he is not […]

Ben Chin for mayor

The people of Lewiston deserve a respectful, attentive mayor to lead the city into its next transformation. It is time to elect a young, smart, energetic, positive mayor for Lewiston, and Ben Chin is that person. He has big plans and is not afraid to speak publicly about them. Lewiston is on the cusp of […]

Macdonald should serve another term

Regarding the November election of a mayor in Lewiston, I have known Robert Macdonald for years. He has proven himself to be a good police officer. He is intelligent and, best of all, he has a lot of common sense. He also knows how to be mayor of Lewiston because he has already served two […]

Make use of Fryeburg fairgrounds

I was a rider in the 2015 Bike Maine Tour this year and was disappointed to learn that riders were not able to use the fairgrounds in Fryeburg for our Bike Village campgrounds this year. There were well more than 350 riders and they would have brought a sizable economic impact to the area, looking […]
