Auditor reports Rumford finances in good shape

The annual town meeting warrant includes articles for lease/purchase of a loader and truck, an SUV and a mower.

A $2,000 Safety Enhancement Grant will cover the cost of one of the two sets of hitch gear (coat and pants) for the Mexico Fire Department.

Residents of Canton, Carthage, Dixfield and Peru approved the fiscal year 2019-20 school budget of $13.27 million Tuesday.

Voters will be asked to use $75,000 from surplus to cover the preliminary and demolition costs of the former Peru Elementary School.

The board of directors voted that nondistrict players must pay $200 each.

The fire that leveled a home and caused a woods fire Thursday in Peru was accidental, Fire Chief Bill Hussey said.

Following mobilization of firefighters and equipment, Rumford Fire Chief Chris Reed said the fire was knocked down within 10 minutes.
