LEWISTON – Scott Brown and Ryan Reed combined for four hits and six RBIs to lead Deering to a 18-0 romp over Lewiston in SMAA baseball action Thursday.

Nick Giobbi threw four innings for the Rams (2-0) while posting the win. Josh Stowell and Andrew Giobbi contributed with RBI-doubles for Deering.

Mike Leclair started out on the mound for the Blue Devils (0-2), lasting two innings before stepping down. Leclair was credited with his first loss of the new season.

Jay 13, Monmouth 5

MONMOUTH – Jacob Turner and A.J. Nelson lofted homeruns as Jay bolted to a 13-5 win over Monmouth in MVC baseball action Thursday.

The Tiger (1-0) bats were hot in the first two innings, coupling seven hits with four walks to jump out to a 9-1 lead. Ryan DiPompo slapped a triple for one the Tiger’s six extra base hits.

The Mustangs (0-1) sent five different pitchers to the mound in an effort to find a groove.

Andy Bellemore came on in the second and allowed only one run to cross the plate in the third.

The Mustang pitching staff allowed just four hits and gave up no walks from the third inning through seven.
