1955 – 2003

TOGUS – Merle H. Scott, 47, a resident of 341 Packard Road, Monmouth, died very unexpectedly Sunday, April 27, at the Veterans Hospital.

Born in Lewiston, July 4, 1955, the son of Earl and Helen Pease Scott, he attended schools in the Monmouth School System and Monmouth Academy.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War. On Nov. 24, 1978 he married Vickie J. Crocker of Monmouth.

He had been employed as a carpenter and also worked for Tex-Tech Industries of Monmouth and the local shoe shop. He was a member of the D.A.V. and P.V.A. He enjoyed fishing and snowmobiling.

Survivors include his mother of Monmouth; his wife of Monmouth; a son, Mark of Livermore; two daughters, Melisa of Monmouth and Michele Moreau and her husband, Chris of Livermore Falls; six brothers, Lendell S. of Auburn, Andrew B. of Sabattus, Lee A. of Lewiston, Earl, Jr. of Richmond, Larry of South Monmouth and Jerry L. of Gardiner; three sisters, Perlene F. Colby of Gardiner, Hazel E. Maheux of Waterville and Laura M. (Dolly) Hodsdon of Monmouth; six grandchildren, Corbin, Abigail, Trivin, Chantel, Skylar and Casandra; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Earl Scott and a brother, Hanford Scott.
