Robert E. Lee was a fine man, although I would doubt “perfect” as Cort Kirkwood claims in his column of May 20.

The argument of his “perfectness” can be supported on the basis of evidence, so why did Kirkwood feel it necessary to bash Lincoln? It is a tactic of which we are seeing all too much in too many stories.

I am concerned about the South vs. North sentiment which seems to be growing and exhibited by the media. Such is the stuff civil wars are born of.

And, oh, by the way, I agree the Scouts could bear the name of Lee with pride and it’s too bad this thing had to become an issue. A little “live and let live” is in order.
