1917 – 2003

NORWAY – R. Mildred M. Murch, 87, of Harrison, died Friday, June 6, at Stephens Memorial Hospital. She was born in Sherman Mills on March 29, 1917, the daughter of Raymond and Grace Dearborn Millett. She attended school at the one-room schoolhouse on Plummer Hill in Waterford.

She was married in 1937 to Ellsworth Murch, who predeceased her in February of 1971. She worked for many years in shoe shops located in Norway and Harrison. She loved to crochet and knit for family and friends. She was very fond of nature. She enjoyed watching the hummingbirds from her porch, and seeing the deer and other wildlife in the fields. She was known for her great sense of humor and quick wit that created many friendships over the years.

She is survived by five sisters, Maisie Murch of East Waterford, Nina Bisbee of South Paris, Gladys Emery of Mechanic Falls, Katherine Millett of Norway, and Eva Barker of Waterford, one brother Ralph Millett of Waterford; five sons, Rodney Murch of Covina, Calif., James A. Murch of Waterford, Edward Murch of Harrison, Roger Murch of Waterford, and Gleason Murch of Harrison; one daughter, Geri Murch of Covina, Calif., one step-daughter Betty Verrill of Bryant Pond, one aunt Alma Millett of South Paris, 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and many, many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Ellsworth; two brothers Vern and Elmer Millett; one sister Louise Millett; and a great-granddaughter Lindsay Marie Johnson.
