GREENE – Stephen C. Nickerson, 50, of Willey Point Road, Oakland, died unexpectedly July 4, in Greene.
Born July 17, 1952, in Portland, a son of Kaye and Adeline Norton Nickerson, he graduated from Yarmouth High School and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Southern Maine.
He worked most of his life as a millwright and had worked throughout the U.S. An outdoor enthusiast, he especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and bird watching.
He loved the arts and sciences and shared it with his daughters. He never grew tired of learning. His favorite evening past-time was watching Jeopardy. He loved playing competitive games of scrabble and cribbage. Many hours were spent enjoying the beauty of nature and it’s wildlife. He could point out each and every constellation.
Survivors include his daughter, Ashley Nickerson of Monmouth, who anticipates graduating from Northeastern University next spring with a bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences; his stepdaughter, Rebecca Normand of Monmouth; his mother, Adeline Norton Nickerson of Yarmouth; two brothers, Wayne Nickerson and his wife, Shirley of Yarmouth and Timothy Nickerson and his wife, Kathleen of New Gloucester; and several nieces and nephews.
