AUBURN – First Auburn Seniors will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, at Hasty Community Center, Pettengill Park.
The annual barbecue chicken meal will be served after the meeting. Some of the cooks include Ray Cyr, Bill Redmun and Andre Giasson. Those attending should bring table utensils and cups. Bingo will be played after lunch.
Annual reports were given at the July 2 meeting. Members with July birthdays were honored with the singing of “The Birthday Song.”
Joyce Poole listed the trips scheduled for the rest of the year, including the Fairpoint outing on Monday, Aug. 4. Three members were placed on the honorary list: Helen Clark, Rupert Davidson and Flora Proctor.
Attendance prize winners were Annie Ray and Donald Fyfe; pot of gold winners, Annie Ray, Virginia Trafford and Bill Redmun. Bingo was played after lunch.
Post in recess
LEWISTON – Post 22, American Legion, will adjourn membership meetings during July and August. Meetings will resume at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at Trinity Church Hall, 247 Bates St.

CPR course
LEWISTON — The United Valley Chapter, American Red Cross, will offer an additional adult CPR course from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, July 17.
The chapter will also offer a course to become a certified first aid, AED and CPR instructor. The class will start on July 24 and run for eight Monday and Thursday nights (participants must attend every class).

Lavender is topic
NEW GLOUCESTER – Growing and using lavender will be the topic of a workshop at Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village, Route 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 19. Participants will visit the Shaker gardens to learn about plants, propagation, harvesting and uses of lavender. Cost is $25 a person and preregistration is required. Call 926-4597 for details.
Nature talk
NEW GLOUCESTER – Nature walks will be held at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village, Route 26. The three-mile walk will cover eastern parts of the village, highlighted by Loon’s Point and the Aurelia’s Cascade footbridge. Cost is $5 for adults, $1 for children. Reservations are recommended.
