AUBURN – Double-elimination playoffs will be held this coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday. A random draw was held Monday, with the following opening pairings for the 9-team circuit: Friday, 7:15, Pettengill, Outlaws vs Red Sox; Saturday, 9 a.m., Pratt & Sons vs Friday’s winner, Pettengill; Coastal T’s vs Gilman Electric, Lakeview-1; Melanson Construction vs Motor Home Center, Lake-2; Pease’s Screenprinting vs Ben Alpren, Tribou. The tourney continues Saturday and Sunday, with the title game set for 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Pettengill.

The tourney continues Saturday at 10:30 p.m. Championship game is slated for 3 p.m. Sunday at Pettengill.

AUBURN – Eight teams remain in the playoffs which will conclude Sunday. In opening games last Sunday, Androscoggin Home Health beat JC Penney 12-6; Tacoma’s defeated Androscoggin Home Health 29-13; St. Mary’s won by forfeit over Taylor Brook Dental; Slammers edged LA College 9-7; and Bench Warmers nipped Mark’s Sluggers 13-12. LA College then eliminated JC Penney 13-7. Sunday’s schedule: winners’ bracket, 12:00, Pettengill, Tacoma’s vs St. Mary’s; Tribou, Slammers vs Bench Warmers. Losers’ bracket: 12:00, Lake-1, LA College vs Sluggers; Lake-2, Home Health vs Taylor Brook Dental. Championship contest is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Pettengill.

LEWISTON – Gipper’s/BT Pallet, National League champ, defeated American king Advance Pools 8-3 Monday in the opening game of the best-of-3 City Championship Series. Game 2 was set for Tuesday night.
Gipper’s/BT Pallet edged Ducharme Masonry 11-10 in the deciding game of the National League finals Sunday night.
Umps’ tourney cancelled
LEWISTON – The annual Andy Valley Softball Umpires Association Memorial Tournament set for last weekend was cancelled because only 5 teams registered.
