1921 – 2003

LEWISTON – Mrs. Dorothy H. Cormier, 81, of Clover Manor and formerly of Great Falls Plaza, died Sunday afternoon Oct. 5, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family.

She was born in Houlton, Nov. 6, 1921, a daughter of Maurice and Myrtle (Parks) Dunphy. She was educated in Houlton schools but spent most of her adult life in the Auburn-Lewiston community. In 1940, she married Walter V. Cormier who died in 1962.

She worked many years as a clerk at S.S. Kresge’s Department store in Lewiston until her retirement in July of 1984. She was a member of Court St. Baptist Church, the Young at Heart Club, Marion Parker Circle, Auburn Senior Citizens, Ladies Auxilliary of VFW Post #1603, Sabbathday Lake Grange and the Robin Dow Senior Citizens.

Among her favorite enjoyments were spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards and going out to lunch and doing other activities with her wonderful friends.

She leaves a daughter, Judy Ayotte and her husband, Gerald, of Lynnfield, Mass.; a son, Ronald D. Cormier and his wife, Judy, of Lewiston; 7 grandchildren, Stephen Ayotte of Ga., Laurie Ann Boucher of Fla., Joe Cormier of So. Paris, Ryan Cormier of Lewiston, Rodney Cormier of Lewiston, Cindy Bradstreet of Auburn and Brenda Cormier of Litchfield; and several nieces and nephews.
