LIVERMORE – Several bids for miscellaneous equipment were opened by selectpersons Tuesday night.

Awarded were the following: a 1991 International dump truck to Castonguay Construction for $5,576; a 1989 White-GMC Brigadier 4×4 to Horne Construction for $6,150; a Diamond snowplow to Korhonen Enterprises for $350; a utility trailer to Ted Berry Co. for $1,501; and a Bolens tractor to Damon Motors for $469.

Bids received for a 1997 Ford F-150 4-by-4 will be referred to Fire Chief Randy Berry to decide whether to accept the highest bid or to go out to bid again.

No bids were received on a dump body and an engine hoist.

Road Foreman Bert Bryant reported that most of the mowing was done and that 3,600 yards of winter sand is in place. The crew has also been cold patching, he said.

The board voted to ditch and gravel Wyman Road that has washed out recently.

The new General Assistance rules were accepted then it was announced that Sheila Weed, the former administrator, is ready to return to work.

The board authorized the expenditure of $34,758 for the new Sterling plow truck that should be ready Thursday.

In other business, Administrative Assistant Kurt Schaub announced that applications for the part-time road position and for on-call plow drivers are due Friday.

He also announced that 210 tons of road salt have been ordered for mixing with sand at a cost of $38.88 per ton.

John O’Donnell, who heads the firm doing the town’s revaluation, will meet with the board soon to update them on the progress. He will also tell them about the various programs that can help residents reduce their property taxes.

The Planning Board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the town office, the Batten Road committee will meet Wednesday at the town office and the Androscoggin County commissioners will meet at noon Thursday in the county building to discuss how municipal and county governments can work together toward the more efficient provision of services.
