1909 – 2003
FARMINGTON – Evelyn Ella Smith, 94, of Rangeley, died Monday, Oct. 20, at the Edgewood Rehabilitation & Living Center where she had been a resident for several years.
She was born Jan. 1, 1909, in Rangeley, a daughter of Edwin and Leona (Haines) Spencer. She attended schools in Rangeley graduating from Rangeley High School.
On June 15, 1929, she married James Smith. He died July 30, 1984.
Mrs. Smith was a homemaker to her husband most of her life. She did work for some time as a cook at the Nile Farm.
She was a member of the Rangeley Free Baptist Church. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed needle work including crocheting and knitting.
She was predeceased by a brother, Donald Spencer; and two sisters, Ione S. Bodnar and Florence C. Thompson.
