LEWISTON – Advocates for Children will bring the “Active Parenting Now, For Parents of Children Ages 5 to 12” program here on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
The workshop will show parents effective ways to use non-violent discipline techniques that work; improve communication with children; teach responsibility and other values; handle problems as they come up; cope with difficult topics such as drugs, violence and sex; defuse power struggles with children; and stimulate independence.
The workshop will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays for six weeks beginning Nov. 4 at Advocates for Children, B Street Community Center, 57 Birch St.
Participants will learn a proven approach to parenting that will lead to more harmony and happiness for parents and children. The program uses video, activities and discussion to show ways to raise responsible, cooperative children who are able to resist negative peer pressure.
Child care will be available and registration is required. Contact Advocates for Children at 783-3990 to register or go online at www.advocatesforchildren.net.
