BANGOR- No. 6 seed Western New England College knocked off No. 3 seed Husson College in the first round of the NAC field hockey tournament, 2-1 in overtime on Saturday.
Allison Jameson scored the game-winner three minutes into the first overtime off a shot by Nicole DeRosa. Goalie Shani Hollins mae the initial save, but Jameson was there to drill the ball home.
Maine 7, Albany 0
ORONO- Maine defeated Albany 7-0 to clinch the No. 3 seed in the America East Tournament.
The Bears completed the regular season 14-5 overall and 4-2 in the conference, 7-0 at home.
Maine scored its first goal of the day at the 15:40 mark when senior Jana Ouellette fired off a goal following a corner. Ouellette also scored later in the second.
Karly Bundy, Amie Dubois, Rebecca Ouellet, and Kristen Costa each added insurance goals.
USM 2, Bridgewater State 0
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Freshman Kerry Leonard had a goal and an assist to lead Southern Maine to a 2-1 win over Bridgewater State.
Leonard put the Huskies (14-5) on the board at 6:49 when she converted a relay from senior Renee Heath off a penalty corner. Sophomore Kayla Vaughan netted the game-winning goal when she nailed home a rebound from a Leonard shot.
Jessie Superchi made five saves in net for the Huskies.

FARMINGTON – Dorice Reitchel and Mary Sinclair scored a goal apiece within two minutes of each other as the University of Maine at Farmington took a 2-0 win over Thomas.
Ashleigh Biette made eight saves on 12 shots for the Beavers (7-3).
Colby 3, Tufts 2
WATERVILLE – Colby battled back from a two goal deficit to send the game into overtime and earn the 3-2 victory in a penalty stroke shootout over Tufts University in field hockey action Saturday.
Men’s soccer
Eastern Conn. 3, USM 1
PORTLAND – Junior Joe Lupone scored a pair of goals to lead Eastern Connecticut State University to a 3-1 win over the University of Southern Maine in men’s soccer action.
Junior Zach Ansley pulled the Huskies (8-9-2) even at 29:46 when he beat the on-rushing goalie to a pass from sophomore Sean Tardif at the back post and slid a shot into the net.
Lupone pounced on a rebound for what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 44th minute for the Warriors (6-10-2). Lupone added an insurance goal in the second half.
Women’s soccer
Maine 5, Vermont 1
BURLINGTON, VT.- Sophomore Heather Hathorn scored four goals to lead the Maine past Vermont 5-1 in an America East women’s soccer match.
Hathorn stuck quickly, scoring the first two goals of the game in the first 15 minutes. She put the Black Bears on the board just 2:30 into the contest with a blast off an assist from Annie Hamel.
Hathorn sent another powerful shot past Vermont goaltender Katie Duffy at the 12:27 mark to give Maine a clearer advantage.
Maine then netted three straight goals to put the game out of reach. Hathorn registered a Hat-trick when her initial shot hit the post and trickled into the Vermont goal.
Eastern Conn. 1, USM 0
MANSFIELD, Conn. – Sophomore Jen Orme scored the only goal of the contest to lift Eastern Connecticut State University to a 1-0 win over the University of Southern Maine in women’s soccer action Saturday.
