1938 – 2003

MECHANIC FALLS – Nancy Pearl Gray Ryan, 65, of Mechanic Falls died peacefully Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at home with her family and friends by her side following a brave fight with cancer.

She was born in Fayette on March 13, 1938, the daughter of Howard Pearl and Clara Louise Varney Gray. She was educated in Fayette and attended Kent’s Hill High School.

She married her husband, Robert Kevin Ryan, on Feb. 26, 1955. Nancy graduated from CMVTI in 1984 as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

She practiced her nursing skills at Stephens Memorial Hospital in the OB Department, Western Maine Pediatrics in Bridgton and Norway until her diagnosis.

She enjoyed traveling to visit family, gardening, being a dedicated Red Sox fan, spending time with her many life-long friends and, most of all, being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Nancy loved her work, reaching beyond the day-to-day caring of patients by touching them in their personal lives through teaching sibling classes, parenting skills and being a dedicated friend. She took great pride in her community, volunteering on political campaigns, school committees and scouting.
