QUINCY, Mass. – New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s home was broken into on Friday afternoon, but only a television was taken from the 2002 Super Bowl MVP.
Quincy Police Lt. Paul Keenan told The Associated Press a 27-inch television was stolen from a house at the Marina Bay development in Quincy shortly after noon on Friday. He said someone forced the door open and grabbed the TV. No arrests have been made, he said.
Keenan would not identify the victim or exact address of the break-in.
But according to Boston-area published and broadcast reports, it was Brady’s home.
Brady told the Boston Herald he was stretching for practice when he was told he had an urgent phone call.
“I was told my sister was on the phone for me, something important,” he told the Herald.
“I’m just glad they didn’t get the (Super Bowl MVP) trophy,” he said.
“I don’t think they even knew it was my house.”
Patriots spokesman Stacey James said he knew nothing about the incident.
The team was still in the Boston area Friday and was scheduled to leave Saturday afternoon for its game at Houston on Sunday.
Brady, 26, the most valuable player of the Patriots’ Super Bowl win over St. Louis, has led the Patriots to an 8-2 record and first place in the AFC East. He has completed 826 of 1341 passes for 2283 yards and 11 touchdowns.
A listing for Tom Brady in Quincy was unpublished.
