RUMFORD – The Rumford Elementary School celebrated Children’s Book Week with a Book Character Day on Nov. 19. Students and staff dressed as book characters.

In addition, a Reading is Fundamental book distribution took place in the Library/Media Center. Each student selected two free books. Titles ranged from the popular Pokemon books to Caldecott and Newbery award winners.

Volunteers Becky Pingree, Jessi Arsenault, Steve True, Dam Garneau, Dalton Bradley and Jenny White assisted with the distribution.

Reading is Fundamental is a federally-supported program that provides students with free books. Librarian Eileen Broderick, first-frade teachers, Lynn Frost and Lyn Newell, run the program at Rumford Elementary School.
