Lynn Plourde is staging a dramatization of a book with students playing the parts.

LEWISTON – Maine children’s book author Lynn Plourde is doing an author-in-residence program for grades three through five at McMahon School through Tuesday, Dec. 16.

The residency is sponsored and organized by the L/A Arts Arts in Education Programs.

During an opening assembly for the entire school on Dec. 1 Plourde presented an interactive reading of some of her picture books, “Pigs in the Mud in the Middle of the Rud,” “Wild Child,” “School Picture Day” and “Moose, Of Course!”

She is leading a dramatization of one of her books, with students playing parts using simple props. Then she will visit with grades three to five in the classrooms, teaching students how to write problem stories or tables, including how to get ideas, plan and revise their stories. Parents are welcome to attend the sessions on Dec. 9, 11, 15 and 16. Call McMahon School at 795-4140 for further information.
