WALES – Oak Hill broke into the win column for the first time in two seasons behind a 23-point effort from Troy Tracy as the Raiders downed Maine Central Institute 54-47 in KVAC basketball action Friday evening.

Adam Labbe chipped in 13 points and hauled down 10 boards, complementing Tracy’s effort for the Raiders (1-11).

MCI was led by Matt Huff with a team-high 12 points. Naoli Shibugah added 11 points in the loss.

G-NG 48, Freeport 46

GRAY – Louis Bernardini drained 17 points, hauled down 13 rebounds and made four steals to lead Gray-New Gloucester to a thrilling 48-46 WMC win over Freeport.

Ralf Spanheimer added 11 points for the Patriots (4-8). The Falcons (4-9) were led by Elliot Townsend’s 15 points.

Brunswick 63, Mt. Blue 51

BRUNSWICK – Ralph Mims exploded for a game-high 25 points, including three 3-pointers, and hauled down six defensive boards to lead Brunswick to a 63-51 win in KVAC action over Mt. Blue.

The Dragons (8-1) took a 32-17 lead into intermission and cruised to the victory.

Jessie Kaplan and Justin Gauvin chipped in 10 points apiece to round out the scorring.

The Cougars (7-3) were led by Brian Wells and Ted Neil, who scored 19 and 12 points, respectively.

Elan 87, Seacoast Christian 70

AUBURN – Andrew Ballard led six players in double digits as Elan downed Seacoast Christian 87-70 in Class D action.

Angel Alberto and Albert Simone added 13 points apiece, while Ben Dreyer and Fred Heberling rounded out the offesive outburst with 10 points each.

Seacoast’s James Sharp scored 16 points.

Boothbay 66, Dirigo 52

DIXFIELD – Mike Norton scored 20 points and Jon Sceviour and David Sibley each added 11 to boost Boothbay to a 66-52 MVC triumph over Dirigo.

Dirigo trimmed an 11-point deficit to six at the half before the Seahawks (7-4) pulled away. Craig Langervin led the Cougars (2-11) with 15 points and 17 rebounds. Brandon Berry bolstered the attack with a dozen points.

Oxford Hills 63, Mt. Ararat 47

TOPSHAM – Corey Tielinen went 12-for-13 from the foul line, including a flurry of shots from the stripe in the fourth quarter, to help Oxford Hills remain unbeaten with a 63-47 KVAC victory over Mt. Ararat.

Tielinen finished with a game-high 18 points, while Leif Kothe added 17, including a pair of 3-pointers, for the Vikings (9-0). Oxford Hills outscored Mt. Ararat 21-11 in the final period. Thomas Kothe chipped in 11 points.

Andy Cantrell paced the Eagles (5-4) with 15 points, while Danny Colina dropped in 11.

Cony 72, EL 48

AUGUSTA – Sophomore guard Marc Beaudoin drained 16 points to lift Cony to a 72-48 win over Edward Little in KVAC boys’ basketball action Friday.

Doug Joerrs and Miles Whitlock each netted 10 points for the Rams (6-2).

Senior forward Kenny Poulin led the Red Eddies (2-7) with 17 points and nine rebounds, while senior guard Ryan Ford contributed 13 points.

Richmond 66, Rangeley 43

RANGELEY – Freshman forward Glendon Kendrick led the Bobcats with 13 points as Richmond erased a first-quarter deficit and sailed to a 66-43 victory over Rangeley in EWC action.

The Lakers (5-2) grabbed a 16-9 lead after the first quarter, but the loss of Jimmy Goodwin to a sprained ankle hurt Rangeley. Freshman forward David Jensen had a game-high 15 points for the Lakers.

OOB 55, St. Dom’s 39

OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Corey Smith and Jesse Allen scored 19 points apiece to lead Old Orchard Beach to a 55-39 win over previously unbeaten St. Dom’s in WMC action.

The Seagulls (7-4) held a slim 18-17 lead at the end of the first half but used a 37-22 run in the second half to turn away the Saints (8-1). Smith and Allen combined for eight 3-pointers.

Ian Pullen paced St. Dom’s with 15 points.

Gould 71, Islesboro 50

BETHEL – Junior forward T.J. Savage knocked down 18 points to lead Gould to a 71-50 win over Islesboro.

The Huskies (5-3) received strong offensive support from Whitney Stowell with 16 points, Karl Olson with 14 and Quinn McAllister with 13, including three 3-point baskets.

Brandon Hussey scored a team-high 15 points for the Eagles (2-8).

Hockey

Yarmouth 3, Win-Dale 1

NORTH YARMOUTH – Loren Joyce was credited with the game-winning unassisted goal as Yarmouth went on to defeat Win-Dale 3-1 in Class B hockey action Friday evening.

The Clippers (7-1) scored first when Eli Scherr relayed a pass to Will McLeod, who found the back of the net at 10:10 of the first period.

The Ice Dogs (2-7) evened the contest at the 3:42 mark of the second period on a conversion from Garrick Wilson to Adam Beal. McLeod iced the game for the Clippers at 13:34 of the third period on assists from Jacob Bowie and Charlie Mercer.
