1958 – 2004

LEWISTON – Gena Gagne McKinnon, 45, of Bowdoinham, passed away on Thursday Jan. 22, at 2:05 p.m. at Central Maine Medical Center. Our beloved Gena left behind the confines of our world and entered the graces of the Lord.

She was born in Waterville, to Gloria Gallagher and Gene Gagne on Feb. 28, 1958.

She was a poster child for Cystic Fibrosis and also did television commercials for the C.F. Foundation of Maine.

She graduated from Messalonskee High School in Oakland in 1976, and from Central Beauty School in Augusta in 1978. She owned and operated Gena’s Hair Designs in Oakland from 1982-1986. Along with her husband Donald, owned and operated A-Frame Hoof & Pet Supply in Norridgewock.

She bred and showed Poodles for 20 + years, she also bred birds and cats. She truly loved animals, and her deer rides around “The Loop”. Her proudest accomplishment was the birth of her son, Bill.

She was raised by her grandparents, Bill and Helen Gallagher of Oakland.

She loved to laugh and to make others laugh.

She was the devoted wife of Donald F. McKinnon of Bowdoinham; loving mother to son, William McKinnon of Gorham; “Nana” to Megan and Ashley; brothers, Greg Gagne of Oakland, Jeffrey Sturtevant of Fort Drum N.Y.; sister, Stephanie Sturtevant of Gaithersburg, Md.; and brother, James Sturtevant of Fairfield; she also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

She was predeceased by a son, Corey Michael Gagne.

She received excellent care from the doctor’s, nurses and caregivers at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. She had many friends and will be greatly missed.
