1912 – 2004

LEWISTON – Aurore M. Thompson, 91, of Lewiston died peacefully after a brief illness on Feb. 10, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Salem, Mass., on May 3, 1912, the daughter of Etienne L. and Hectorine E. (Denis) Berube. Her family moved to Lewiston from Salem after the great Salem fire of 1914.

She had been married to Emile Evans, C. Everett Thompson Jr., and Harvey Nault.

She began her 44 year working career in the shoe industry at an early age. She traveled all over the country following the careers of her husbands. She had lived in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Florida, California, New Hampshire, and Maine.

She was an excellent swimmer, figure skater, seamstress, as well as hairdresser and equestrian. She studied flying with instructor Roland Maheux, a local stunt flyer and was one of the first women in the Lewiston/Auburn area to fly a plane solo. Her greatest God given blessing was 91 years of excellent health.

She is survived by sisters, Flo Berube of Lewiston, Mrs. Robert (Rina) Flaugher of San Diego, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by an infant daughter; sisters, Irene Pinard, Lucien Martel, Germaine Nadeau; and brothers Henry, Arthur, Albert, and Leo Berube.
