1915 – 2004

AUBURN – Helen S. Houlares, 89, formerly of 30 Hazel St., Auburn died early Tuesday morning, Feb. 17, at Clover Health Care Facility.

She was born Jan. 25, 1915, in Lewiston, the daughter of James and Aristia (Lambrew) Simones. She was a life long member of the community as well as a life member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and a Philoctophos member of the Church.

She enjoyed reading and was a kind and spirited person who was immeasurably devoted to her family and friends.

Survivors include three sons, Paul and his wife, Therese of Portsmouth, N.H., James and his wife Pamela of Wellesley, Mass., and Christopher Houlares of Auburn; one daughter, Mary Copeland and her husband, William Jr. of Bonita Springs, Fla.; two brothers, Chris Simones and his wife, Pauline of Auburn, Rev. Charles Simones and his wife, Joan of Waterford, Conn.; and five grandchildren, Kimberly Copeland, William Scott Copeland, Christopher Gregory Copeland, Nathaniel Houlares, and Elana Houlares.

She was predeceased by her husband, Achilles Houlares in 1955; a son, Gregory in 1948; and two brothers, Nester Simones in 2001, and George Simones in January of this year.
