The alleged encounter occurred at Peter Winslow’s garage.

NEW SHARON – A New Sharon mechanic has been charged with exposing himself to a customer in his garage.

Peter Winslow, 40, was issued a summons Monday by Det. David St. Laurent of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department for a Class E misdemeanor of indecent conduct, formerly known as indecent exposure.

According to the detective, Sexual Assault Victims Emergency Services Inc. of Farmington received a call last Thursday from a New Sharon woman who alleged that Winslow had been talking inappropriately and making sexual gestures to her for the past two months.

The two had known each other for years, St. Laurent said, and she had her vehicle serviced at his garage in New Sharon.

The alleged harassment occurred last Tuesday. When the complainant stopped by to pay her bill, Winslow allegedly exposed his genitals to her, St. Laurent said.

“She was offended and alarmed,” he added.

The woman immediately left the garage, and called SAVES, which helped connect her to St. Laurent, who is the county’s sexual assault investigator.

On Monday, St. Laurent interviewed Winslow, and charged him with the crime.

The maximum punishment is imprisonment for up to one year and a $500 fine, the detective said.
