WILTON – The Wilton Academy class of 1964 is supporting the Wilton Free Public Library’s building project.

A quilt, handcrafted by Doreen Maxwell, has been donated to the library. All monies raised will be dedicated to the library building project. Chances may be taken on the quilt throughout the summer and a winner will be drawn after the Blueberry Festival on Aug. 10.

The quilt is backed with a blueberry fabric and the 12-inch squares are crafted in pinecone, berry and blueberry fabric, in greens, tan, blues and reds. The artist’s signature and memorial has been added to the back of the quilt. The raffle will begin the first part of April and the quilt may be viewed at the library.

The raffle will be held separately from the annual summer raffle, where a variety of items are donated by friends of the library and local businesses.

Anyone wishing to donate items to the annual summer raffle may contact Vaughan Gagne at the library. Items need to be donated by June and the raffle will be set up by the first part of July, with tickets being sold through the Blueberry Festival. The raffle has historically raised $600 to $700 for the building project.

The library is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The library phone number is 645-4831.
