BETHEL – The wedding of Amy Elizabeth Welch and Christopher Van Whissen was held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 18 at the Bethel Inn. The Rev. Linda A. Kimball officiated at the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of William and Cynthia Welch of Mexico. The bridegroom is the son of Judith Whissen of Interlachen, Fla., and the late Van Whissen.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents and the bridegroom by his mother. The bride wore an ivory lace gown with Empire waistline accented with seed pearls and a chapel length train. She carried a bouquet of red Gerber daisies with yellow Calla lilies, berries, lemon leaf and ivy.

Sarah Welch, sister of the bride, was her maid of honor and bridesmaids were Michelle Boucher-Ladd, friend of the bride, and Michelle Whissen, sister of the bridegroom.

Honor attendant for the bridegroom was Angi Dougherty, his friend, and ushers were Michael Ostrander and David Kale, friends of the bridegroom.

A reception followed at the Bethel Inn, after which the couple traveled to San Juan, Puerto Rico. They are residing in Elmhurst, N.Y.

The bride is a graduate of Mountain Valley High School in Rumford and a 1996 graduate of Bowdoin College. She is employed as regional marketing coordinator at Muzak in Edgewood, N.Y.

The bridegroom is a 1995 graduate of Kwajalein High School in the Republic of the Marshall Islands and is a 1999 graduate of Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He is employed as graphic designer at the Daily Racing Form in New York City.
