FARMINGTON – A reading and book signing with author Martha Tod Dudman will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 6, at Devaney Doak & Garrett Booksellers on Broadway. Dudman was praised her book, “Augusta, Gone,” her memoir of parenting a teenage daughter. FARMINGTON – The Sandy River Valley chapter of the Maine Genealogy Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at the Farmington Public Library. The program will feature “A Brief History of New Sharon.” Anyone with an interest in genealogy is welcome to attend.

Mail carriers holding food drive

FARMINGTON – The Farmington post office mail carriers are holding their 12th annual food drive on Saturday, May 8. Residents are being asked to leave nonperishable food items on, in or near their mailbox for the carrier to pick up. There will also be a food drop in the lobby of the post office from May 5 through May 8.

Gospel quartet performing

LIVERMORE – The East Wind Gospel Quartet will present a Southern gospel concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at the North Livermore Baptist Church on the corner of Route 4 and Crash Road. All are welcome. A freewill offering will be taken.

Rabies clinic set at fire station

SALEM – A rabies clinic will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at the Salem Fire Station. The cost is $8 per pet. Vaccines will be given by Clearwater Veterinary Hospital. One-year vaccines will be given, unless the owner brings proof of previous vaccine. Tags and certificates will be given. The clinic is sponsored by Salem Fire Department Auxiliary.

May baskets, food sale slated

JAY – Filled May baskets, whatnots and a food sale will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at the North Jay Methodist Parish House. Doughnuts, coffee and lunch food will also be available. Residents also are welcome to visit the church’s Thrift Shop, now open 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday.
