HARTFORD, Conn. – Trevor Powers scattered 12 hits over eight and two-third innings with three strikeouts and two walks, as Bowdoin College downed Willaims College 6-3 in the first round of the New England Small College Athletic Conference Baseball Championship Tournamnet Friday afternoon at Wesleyan University.

The Polar Bears (24-11) took a 4-0 lead against the Ephs (28-11) in the top of the second inning on an RBI single by Manny Lora, a hit batsman with the bases loaded, and a two-out, two-run double by Nick Lawler.

Travis Dube came on in the ninth inning to record the save, striking out the final batter and stranding runners on second and third base to send Bowdoin to the next round.

Bowdoin will take on Amherst at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the winners’ bracket.
