CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Agnes Forbes Lord Leavitt, passed away peacefully June 6, while in Cape Coral, Fla.

Born at Northampton, Mass., Nov. 21, 1907, the only child of Eugenia and Stephen G. Forbes, she resided on Vine Street in Auburn for 30 years and enjoyed summers at their cottage on Taylor Pond in Auburn with her husband, Kenneth D. Lord, who passed away on March 4, 1975.

She remarried May 2, 1980, to Dewey D. Leavitt of Florida, who passed away on Aug. 20, 1980. She was a feature story writer and society editor for Lewiston Evening Journal, was Central Maine correspondent for Retail Trade Publications, Fairchild Publications of New York, and was charter member of Press Radio and T.V. Association. In 1958, she won an award in press division for feature story writing for three stories published in the Lewiston Evening Journal Magazine.

She was a former member of the Woman’s Literary Union of Auburn, member of the Thalain Club of the High Street Congregational Church, Auburn and worked as logging editor for WCBB Educational Station in Lewiston. She was a former member and volunteer worker for the C.M.G. Hospital Women’s Association.

Before retiring to Florida, she was manager of the City Motel in Lewiston with her husband, Kenneth D. Lord. She resided on Bamboo Road on Palm Beach Shores, Fla., from 1980 to 1998. She was a charter member of Lake Park Senior Citizens Group and member of the Seasiders of Palm Beach Shores.

Survivors include Gerry Eichenberger of Lake Placid, Fla.; Ronile and Al Sorkin, whom Agnes resided with, wintering in Florida, and summers in Maine, Ken Lord of Auburn and long-time companion, Linda Barschdorf, Keith and Bernadett Lord of California, and Maine; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Danial Eichenberger, whom she was very fond of. Private family services will be held.
