ANDOVER – Eva G. Hutchins, 82, died Monday, June 7, at her residence on the Upton Road in Andover, where she had lived for many years.

Born in Baltimore, Md., Aug. 12, 1921, the daughter of Ralph and Florence (Wheeler) Gerrish, she graduated from Williams High School in Oakland, with the Class of 1939.

She had been employed as a secretary by the State of Maine for over 20 years, with the Department of Transportation, until retirement.

She was a member of the Andover Congregational Church, the Professional Business Women’s Club of Augusta, the Pythian Sisters, the Oxford County Extension Service, the Pineland Ski Club and was a member of the D.A.R.

She was married in Augusta on Nov. 25, 1975, to the late Gordon Hutchins.

Survivors include a son, Arthur Hutchins and wife, Jeannette of East Andover; a daughter, Elizabeth “Betsy” Belanger and husband, David of Andover; seven grandchildren, Eric, Jennifer, Kim, Beth, Rachel, Allyson and Heidi; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her father; mother; brother, Thomas Gerrish; sisters, Catherine Luce and Margaret Galarneau; her husband, Gordon Hutchins; and an infant son, George.
