WILTON – Wilton police have put together a new Web site that includes a link to registered sex offenders in town.

The Wilton Police Department put together the site in response to residents’ concerns about notification of sex offenders in town. Police Chief James Parker put a board outside the police station to post sex offenders for public awareness.

Officer Ed Leahy worked on the site with others.

The layout of the pages as well as the space for hosting the site is being donated to the Police Department, Leahy said.

The site also has links to police departments in the area and gives a brief biography information on Wilton police officers.

The site, www.wiltonmaine.net, which is owned and operated by jkwebdesigns.net brings up the Wilton Police Department site.

Users click on that to enter the site.

At the bottom of the next site page, it notes police roster, registered sex offenders and links. If one clicks on sex offenders, after the first one appears, just click on “Next” for the next one to view.

Click on Links and a compass pops up with links to Farmington Police Department’s sex offender registration, Livermore Falls Police Department, Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, Dixfield Police Department, Jay Police Department and the state and national sex offender registries. If you click on the middle of the compass the Wilton Police Department sex offender registry comes up.

There is also a link to the town of Wilton site.

Leahy said he added some of the names of the sex offenders who are currently in jail and not listed on the state’s registry but are sex offenders under the law.
