LIVERMORE – Two animal shelters in Franklin and Androscoggin counties will split $250 raised at a recent garden auction.

Each year a group of people get together to auction plants, seeds and other garden items for charity. This year they decided to donate the proceeds to the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society in Auburn and Franklin County Animal Shelter in Farmington, said Michelle Berry of Livermore. The auction, which had 17 participants, brought in $193.85, she said.

Additionally, children in the area took it upon themselves to help. Micaela Baron, 10, of Livermore, Travis Castonguay, 9, of Livermore and Aubrey Holcomb, 10, of Livermore Falls collected $56.15 to bring the total to $250.

The money will be split between the two shelters, Berry said.
