FARMINGTON – David C. Fickett Sr., 58, of the Hebron Road in Buckfield, died suddenly Tuesday morning, July 6, upon arrival at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

Born in Pownal, Feb. 17, 1946, a son of Ernest and Julia (Snow) Fickett, he was educated in Pownal and New Gloucester schools and remained a lifelong resident of this area. He was a veteran of the military, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1965 to 1967.

Mr. Fickett was currently employed at Formed Fiber Technologies in Auburn, where he had worked for 16 years. He attended East Auburn Baptist Church and was a member of the NRA and a past member of the American Legion in Mechanic Falls.

Among his favorite enjoyments were camping in the summer and hunting in the fall, but he especially loved spending great times with his family, grandchildren and friends. He was an animal lover also and enjoyed the company of his dog, “Kelsey” and his cat, “Hobbs.” He was a real people person who always had a funny joke or story to tell.

He leaves his wife, Nancy of Buckfield, whom he married June 20, 1992; a daughter, Yvonne R. Meservey and her husband, Clarence of Litchfield; a son, David C. Fickett Jr. of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Lori A. Simoglou and husband, Robert of Beverly, Mass., and Bonnie J. Richard and husband, Jeffrey of Melrose, Mass.; two stepsons, Kyle L. Butler and wife, Pam of Auburn and Andrew S. Butler of McKinney, Texas; five grandchildren, Ben and Caleb Meservey, Corbin Butler, Lyric Simoglou and Ashley Ruest; four sisters, Barbara Bryant of Auburn and Marilyn Tripp and husband, Roger, Patricia Rogers and Clara Neal and husband, Dean, all of New Gloucester; two brothers, Bruce Fickett and wife, Deanna of Mechanic Falls and Roger Fickett and wife, Denise of Sabattus; a special nephew, Kenneth Bryant of Auburn; 40 nieces and nephews; 66 grandnieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Carlene Fickett of Poland and Sally Fickett of Buckfield.

He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Donald; and an infant sister.
