FARMINGTON – Rose A. Quimby, 85, of Main Street, Rangeley, died Friday, July 16, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

She was born one of nine children, May 18, 1919, in Boothbay Harbor, the daughter of Clement and Elita (Blodgett) Field. She was educated in the schools of Oquossoc and Rangeley.

She married Owen “Jud” Quimby in Rangeley, April 27, 1938, and he passed on May 13, 1989. She was a very proud member and advocate of the Pythian Sisters Lakeview Temple for a great many years. She was well known for her baked beans and biscuits, but she was best known for touching many young peoples lives around Rangeley.

Survivors include a daughter, Alice Smith and her husband, Roy, of Rangeley; two sons, Michael “Mick” Quimby, of Rangeley and Everett Quimby, of Rangeley; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Barbara Brackett, Ada Haley and Judy Quimby, all of Rangeley; and two brothers, Jean “Bud” Field, of Rangeley and Paul Field, of Georgia, and Rangeley.

She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years; two sisters, Ruth Morton and Fanny Brown; and two brothers, Charles “Sonny” and Dana Field.
