LEWISTON – Christine L. Richards, 67, a resident of Woody Grove Lane, Winthrop formerly of Auburn, died Monday, July 19, at Central Maine Medical Center following a long illness.

She was born in Lewiston, April 28, 1937, the daughter of Wayne H. and Velma (Downes) Merrill. She attended Cumberland schools, was a graduate of Greely High School, then furthered her education with a teaching degree from the University of Maine in Farmington.

Following college she taught school in Cumberland, South Berwick, and Auburn. After teaching she began Richards’ Family Flowers in Auburn for 30 years, as well as operating a craft business at Richards’ Family Flowers. Mrs. Richards was a member of Southern, Central, and United Maine Craftsman Associations for many years.

Survivors include her husband, Gaylon F. Richards, now of Winthrop and formerly of Auburn; two sons, Jonathon C. Richards, of Saco, and Timothy M. Richards, of Gray; two daughters, Kimberley Louise Richards Jones, of Brunswick, and Gayl Lyn Downs, of Sumner; one sister, Lynda Ritchie, of Cumberland; and five grandchildren, Emily, Jake, Ethan, Christine, and Bailey.
