AUBURN – The Auburn Exchange Club, a longtime supporter of the Pine Tree Society, has made a donation of $1,000 to the Pine Tree Camp.

Pine Tree is an summer camp for children and young adults with physical and/or developmental disabilities. The camp is located on North Pond in the Belgrade Lakes. It’s a 250 acre facility with 35 buildings. More than 480 children and adults participated in last year’s summer camp season. The summer is divided into five camp sessions of 90 campers. The ratio of campers to counselors is three to one, so the staff numbers almost 200 people.

The campers can participate in outdoor activities, including fishing, swimming, canoeing and kayaking, soccer, baseball, street hockey, shuffleboard, archery, basketball and parachute games.

Arts and crafts sessions are held in a separate building in the center of camp. A variety of creative activities are offered, including drawing, painting, photography, tie-dyeing, pottery, woodcrafts and candle-making.

The Exchange Club is an all-volunteer, national service organization for men and women who want to serve their community, develop leadership skills and gain new friendships.
