AUBURN – Norman G. Berube, 69, of 33 Russell Ave., Auburn, died unexpectedly Sunday, July 25, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 22, 1935, in Lewiston, the son of Donat and Sandra Berube Fontaine, and had been a resident of this community all of his life.

He was employed at Lewiston Supply Company for many years, and then worked at Bowdoin College until his retirement in 1980.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served in the Korean War.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the DAV, American Legion Post #22 of Lewiston, and was a volunteer as a teacher in the wood shop at the Veterans Hospital in Togus.

Mr. Berube enjoyed working on his house and in his workshop, playing the guitar and organ, playing hockey, and watching the Red Sox. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter. He was a great father and a wonderful husband who will greatly be missed.

He is survived by his wife of Auburn, the former Susan Croteau, whom he married Aug. 3, 1974; two sons, Roger Berube of Auburn, and Paul Berube and his wife Amanda of Auburn; one daughter, Bonnie Sue Berube of Vero Beach, Fla.; one granddaughter, Amayah of Auburn; one sister-in-law, Irene Maheux of Lewiston; two cousins, Ralph Berube Jr. of Lewiston, and Roger Berube of California; and several nieces and nephews.
